The educational field has changed in the past few decades. Online learning methods have replaced traditional classes in the classroom. They combine the flexibility of prerecorded lessons along with class how to set up a virtual classroom for online coaching discussions that are held via real-time software. But even these online methods can still fall short for students who prefer the live interaction of a live classroom.
Live learning online is a viable alternative to these other methods of online learning that allows students and instructors to interact in real time through videoconferencing programs like Zoom. These classes let students ask questions, resolve confusion and develop a deeper understanding of the material.
While there are many benefits for live learning but it can be a challenge for some students to adapt to this type of online learning. This study examines the students’ readiness for live learning and identifies the main factors that influence it. The results reveal that key influencing variables include motivation to learn, online communication and self-directed learning capability. The researchers also conducted a multi-group study and post hoc test to evaluate the gender differences among undergraduate and graduate students, as well as sub-degree students. The study revealed that postgraduates are better equipped for live learning than undergraduates and sub-degree students.
It is recommended that instructors establish clear expectations for what students need to know and do before, during and after the Live Session. This means providing additional materials like notes, gist-based quizzes, concepts maps, outlines and study guides. Instructors should also create activities to reinforce what students have learned, for example, reviewing, practicing, debating, and analyzing.
